Happened to me too.
I now convert all docx documents to doc before processing. It is a work around..

After I finishing a translation I need to add a character to the end of certain segments.
I start by filtering so that only the segments that need to be edited are shown. Then I use Search&Replace with regex to select the segments one by one.
My problem is that regardless of what regex string I use
- either trying to select the entire segment with .* or ^.+$ or ^&$ or ^&\o or (mind you, the backslash before o is neither shown here)
- only the endpart with e.g. .\o or .$ (nor here)
and regardless of whether I put the entire or part of the expression in brackets #(expression)0 or not
I´m not able to replace the found selection with anything.
Therefore I´m of course neither able to add any character to the end of the found segment.

I have the feeling that including the segment border somehow hinders the replacement function. I have even tried to deselect the tag protection, but it does not help.
Is there a solution to this?

Hi jeromeb,

normally I have no problem with docx files (even very complex containing pics and tables).

But the *may* occur if I forgot to perform a format check before the export. The format check indications the segments where you should take a look at the markups (and other stuff).
Did you perform a format check before exporting?

In addition, it might help if you'd share the content of the error message.
And maybe you can also tell us what Transit version / Service Pack you have and which file type you have used in the project.

Hi Örjan,

it seems as if the end of segments is a kind of write-protected and therefore cannot be used in replace operations.

I have tried to use this effect for a tricky solution. It worked fine on a test file on my site, but I have no idea if it will work for your project too. So usage is on your own risk and please don't blame me if it doesn't work ;-)
It will be a very good idea to backup the language files before the following operation!

The solution consists of 3 separate Search-Replace operations:

1) Add a suffix XX behind any character:
Search: #(.)0
Replace by: #0XX

Attention -- may take a while (depending on your file sizes)
As suffix, you should use a string that does not occur in your "normal" text.

2) Remove the suffix before any character except the segment end.
Search: XX#(.)0
Replace: #0

This way, the XX remains only at the end of the segment (as this XXs are not a character).

3) Replease the remaining suffixes by the required character

Hope that helps.

By the way: I am curious -- what character do you need to be added? And why?

Hello,
Thanks for your replies.
I use Transit NXT, Version 4, Service Pack 8.
I always perform a format check before delivery ("Prüfroutine", blue-white flag symbol in my version).
As I receive packages ready for translation from my client, I cannot convert the source text before translation, unless I ask my client to do so.
Error message says (roughly translated from French) : " the file "xxx" cannot be opened. Some problems have been detected in its content".

Hello Oiseau noir,
Thanks for the tip.
I can see that it should work, very smart indeed! But I hesitate to use it.
My project is a rather huge one and doubling or tripling the character count would cause problems with the size (there already are beforehand).
(Then I also would not really trust three S&R´s in a row not to confuse something somewhere because in my experience there is always something that you have not foreseen. And I would then be forced to control everything again.)
I´ll keep your good trick as a last resort if there isn´t a "smaller" solution.

Why not use Notepad++ (or TextPad) for this? Close the project in Transit, load the target language files and do a Find and Replace action.

Maybe the format check function may help in this case? Using the "Check blanks/whitespaces after text" option, Transit will find missing newlines. You may either correct them "interactively" (i.e. you will be asked for any missing newline if Transit shall insert it) or automatically (using the "Autocorrect" option).

Does any one now if and how I can resize the columns in the Markup window. The column with the content of the markup is narrow, and thus allows me to see only a small part of the markup (unless it is a very short markup like ). Even when I resize the markup window, only the text column gets bigger, but the markup column stays the same. Can the columns be resized?

Hi Yiftah,

the column width in the markup window is fixed and cannot be adapted.

If you frequently have "long" markups and need to see them in detail, may select the markup display "long" (in the "View"). Then the full markup is displayed in the language window. I know that's no real solution for your request -- but at least a kind of workaround.

Just for understanding your question: Why do you need to know the complete markup in the markup window? I usually use the markup mode and focus on the blue highlightings in the source/target text. I almost never have a look into the markup window...

especially in projects with a lot of (long) markups, like the one I am working on now.

The reason I want to see the complete markup is that I often have to change the order of markups or even omit markups, because the word order or even the whole sentence structure in the translation is often very different to the one on the source language. In order to be able to do this correctly, I must know what each markup means.

Okay, I see.

Well, the following will not be the perfect solution, but anyway: Did you notice that the content of the current markup is also displayed in the status bar (bottom of Transit window, at the very right)?
So you may use the short markups in the source/target window and have a look at the right bottom for details...

Now I did ;-)

But it does not help, because it shows only the markup in the position of my cursor, which means that the cursor must be positioned at a markup for the markup content to be displayed in the status bar. And, of course, only one markup is shown at a time.

Maybe someone from STAR is monitoring this forum and will consider to insert this feature soon.

When I do a QA for numbers in a project that contains many localised dates (German: 08.02.2017 > Dutch: 08-02-2017), I get four error messages (one for the whole group, three for the parts).

Is there a setting to suppress these false positives?

What about to check numbers language specific format? I do not know Transit quite well.
However, in all QA tools I know, there is an "automatic date format" converter wich should be set up somewhere.

I migrated a VMware virtual machine with Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. When I start Transit, I get:

DLL loading error: RCViewerLibrary.dll

When I try to repair the installation:

I get:

Do I really have to remove Transit and reinstall it, or is there a simpler solution?

Typically, I use Transit NXT with files stored on my network, in a location like W:\myfiles\transitstuff. I access the network drive with my notebook PC. This works fine and allows me to concentrate all my data in one place for backups, rather than having it scattered over several different devices.

I am wondering how I can work with Transit on my notebook PC when I'm out of the office. As I understand it, and indeed in my experience, Transit just doesn't allow you to open a project if it isn't in the project browser. (I guess there is a workaround, but I haven't found anything straightforward so far.)

What I need to be able to do is to make a copy of the project to the notebook PC drive, work on it there, then copy it back. How would I go about this using Transit NXT? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi Dan,

maybe the "forward project" function is a solution? Having forwarded to project, you can then unpack the forwarded project and select a local folder as working folder.
Then you should be able to work on the project offline. After finishing, you use the "pack translation" feature for your "local" project and unpack the translation into your original project when you have net access again.
The only challenge is that you may have the two projects -- the "normal" one on the network and the local one when you are offline.
