Transit NXT crashes

The program simply shuts down (no freezing). I am aware of course of Ctrl+S, but a program shutdown every 10 minutes or so is wasting a lot of my time. I've also found that in the present case the crashes (with exception code 0xc0000005) happen even if no dictionaries or reference folders are linked. The problem may lie with the particular document (although crashes have often occurred with other documents from the particular customer). Otherwise my PC is perfectly stable.

Exception code 0xc0000005 is a Windows error, which can have multiple causes (see [url removed] ).
What version of Windows are you using?
Does this happen ONLY on files from that particular customer? (in which case it may be worth scanning them with your antivirus/antimalware program)

Richard

Windows 10 Pro. The problem primarily occurs with this customer (who has been informed, but no reply yet), but I can't rule out that it hasn't happened with other projects. The problem also occurred sporadically with Transit XV, and on a variety of machines. All files I receive are scanned.

Transit is no longer crashing after I uninstalled my current anti-virus program and reverted back to Windows Defender.

Good to hear that your problem has been solved. FTR: Which anti-virus software were you using?

Glad you resolved it. I had a similar experience yesterday with my anti-virus software (malwarebytes premium), which suddenly stopped working and slowed down my computer to a crawl. In Task Manager it was eating up RAM at an alarming rate (roughly 100 MB per second) so I stopped the process when it reached 1.8 GB!!! (about sixteen times more RAM than usual) and quickly uninstalled the software. I've reverted to MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials, similar to Defender) and everything's back to normal.

Hi Steve,

I finally had the perfect translation project to try and use your regexes. Translating from English to German, I switched the steps and had to adjust minor instances in the regexes. But they work nicely!
Thanks for creating and posting these!

Help with filter RegEx needed

Hi,
I am translating an English-Chinese mixed text and would like to filter all segments that include Chinese characters as well as English words (= letters of the Roman alphabet).

I have the RegEx for displaying Chinese characters: [\u4e00-\u9fa5]
How would I have to set up a filter RegEx that combines Chinese characters with Roman alphabet letters, regardless of their order or amount? Can anybody help me or give me a hint on how to do it? I have checked the reference handbook, but could not find a viable solution.

TIA
Iris

then you will have better chance to get proper answer.
the more examples, the nicer RegExp could be made (by some other smart people not me).

How about filtering on Chinese characters first and then—while keeping the result of this filter action—filtering on either letters or whole words with Roman letters?

I agree with Hans - I would apply one filter first, then go back to the "Create filter" option, make your adjustments, then click on "More" and tick the box to apply the new filter "To the result of the current filter". That way, it will create a double layer of filtering and show you the segments that meet both criteria.

Hi Hans, hi Karen,

thanks, the double filter option works perfectly!

Funny enough, I've used double filters in this project before, like filtering all segments NOT containing Chinese characters and then filtering all untranslated segments within these. However, I did not think of just entering different segment content for a double filter.

Solved my problem, thanks!

Transit Nxt (pro) crashes... Again. Restore options?

Topic: Transit Nxt (pro) crashes... Again. Restore options?
Poster: Campman

Transit Nxt (Pro) has crashed quite often the past year (I get a Windows message saying something like "breakpoint set by user. The software is no longer working. Looking for a solution... No solution found". (Windows never finds solutions in these situations, but that's another story).

Last crash was more serious than the previous ones. I lost a lot of settings - no more self-defined views, I had to define my user role at startup, the list of "recent projects" no longer displays at startup, the dictionary I use for spell check cannot be found.

Do these settings make a package in one file?
Is there a way to restore?
Why does this happen?
Does anyone have the same experience that Transit NXT (Pro) crashes more and more often?

Termstar (Transit NXT Pro) does not display all terms.

Termstar becomes less and less reliable. When I look up a term in Termstar, it does not find all the terms I know that are in the dictionary/dictonaries.

It happens so often that Termstar does not find a term while it exist in the dictionary, that I stopped searching by just typing the term, I always look up terms by typing the term between *stars*, so using wildcards.

I know this is an persistent problem, I've read other users complaining about it years ago. Perhaps anyone found a solution for this by now?

Internal repetitions in "Check pretranslation"

Poster: Yiftah Hellerman-Carmel

When proofreading a translation in the Internal Repetitions mode, the segments in the category 'Check pretranslation' are not included. Therefore 1. they have to be checked manually one by one not in the Internal repetition mode, which increases the effort and 2. because in the proofreading mode the TM is not searched automatically, this might lead to inconsistencies.

Is there a way to include the 'Check pretranslation' segments in the internal repetition mode?

Thanks
