You can setup an automated backup for the folder transit nxt\config\
Crash may be caused by corrupted profiles. Since there are several such files, I'd back up the complete folder.

And I would also suggest updating Transit or reinstalling the service pack, even if it's already installed. Often such problems are caused by Windows updates.

Strangely enough, I didn't receive the update message. Will check my spam filter.

Edit: Checked spam filter. No message from Böblingen.

Can it be that SP 10 hasn't been released to the public yet?

SP 9 is the latest one there.

Dear community,

I would like to import a document that contains a macro. This macro contains text as well. When I import this document into Transit - are those texts coming from the macro also imported?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Since your transit project is created by your customer, you are likely missing the files needed for export (COD files). Withouth them you cannot export.

This has to do with Windows update. You need to reinstall the application. Unfortunately you won't be able to uninstall it like usual. Contact support for help.

Hi,

I now convert all docx documents to doc before processing. It is a work around..
I sometimes have the problem that if I export PDF files to Word for importing them in Transit, they get saved as RTF files even though the extension might be docx. Opening them in Word and saving them again as Word files usually helps. However, I also prefer to import doc files instead of docx files. And I always run Code Zapper before importing Word files.

As for the export function not working, I think AlSqur might be right.

Uninstalling Transit SP 9 for updating to SP 10

Apparently in order to install the SP 10 after the recent Windows 10
update I must first uninstall Transit (otherwise I get the error
message: Error loading configuration data). It is not possible to simply
uninstall Transit the usual way (Via Apps and Features), however. Any ideas on how to uninstall Transit SP 9 after the Windows 10 update?

Perhaps you could try this:

According to Star support I'm missing Transit installation files. They linked me to an uninstaller program of their own, will see if that works.

Does Transit provide any means of auto-completion/auto-suggestion?

For me, SP 10 was a reason to play around a little with Transit again. It has been some time now since I stopped using Transit, so my knowledge is a little rusty.

I was wondering: Does Transit provide any means of auto-completion/auto-suggestion?

With this project:

I was expecting to see some typing aid for 'coffee', 'coffeemaker' etc.

As far as I know, I have set all relevant settings in Transit's configuration menus.

Splitting projecct in Transit

Hello,

I would like to ask you if there is a possibility to split a project in Transit into several smaller sub-projects and then merge them together (the best variant would be according to number of words).

I have several files visible in "Open language pairs." I tried to "Forward" ("Transit options" there and I then I chose "Selected files only") the project by selecting just part of the files and after the test translation I used "Unpacking" function of the partial project into the main one but the main one was completely rewritten by the partial one and just the smaller amount of files remained (the number I selected for splitting - the rest disappeared/was deleted).

Can you please advise how to split and merge the project correctly?
Thank you very much for your advice.

Have a nice day! :)

Michal.

I don’t think that there is an out-of-the-box solution.

However, you could easily edit copies of the .prj file, by removing the links to ‘unneeded’ language pairs. This way you create different .prj versions, that you can send to your co-workers.

Send the .prj with the desired language pair links and the corresponding language pairs themselves to the individual translators.

They should return the translated pairs in a ZIP. After receipt, you copy them to the project folder.

Instead of deleting links to files, you can also place a semicolon at the start of the line:

[Files]
File1=1|1|1|0|1|c:\Documents\1022_BMW_FB_privat_Brosch_2017_DT_V15-RZ_to_translate.idml-Dutch-phrases.xlsx|1022_BMW_FB_privat_Brosch_2017_DT_V15-RZ_to_translate.idml-Dutch-phrases|1022_BMW_FB_privat_Brosch_2017_DT_V15-RZ_to_translate.idml-Dutch-phrases|0

First you'll have to find where Transit saves the .PRJ project definition files on your computer. On my computer the folder is:
c:\Users\Public\Documents\Transit NXT\config\global\
Then you'll have to edit the Files section in the project definition as described above.
